this is beautiful. everything is so detailed even down to the reflection of the eyes. i can only imagine how much time this took. it's a shame that it wasn't taken from a real life model posing for you. then again they'd get restless, i know i would.
Thank you! Drawing a real life model really would be something interesting, since it's completely different from what I am doing at the moment. Currently I am only copying photos as realistic as possible to see how far I can go with a mere pencil. By drawing a reallife model it's way more important to get the character of the person correctly on the paper than to check that every single hair has the accurate length.
But hell it's quite not easy to find someone with the patience to sit there for some hours .^^
Everything is perfect, If you have the patience to give that kind of termination you should be able to do almost anything. If I have to give you a honest critique I would still say its a copy of a photo. Your pencil technique is flawless, I think you should pursue more creative objectives. Use your hability to tell something, spread your message.
Thank you very much for the honest critique. I actually will go into surreal / political themes soon. Currently I am in fact copying photos as studies to see how far I can go with pencils. When I finished school about a year ago and discovered deviantart, I first was completely overwhelmed by what I saw. Though I always was one of the best in art of my school my skills were far below the level here and I was able to observe techniques I never heard of, yet. So I started again from the very beginning and until now used in every drawing a different technique. Next one will be a portrait with blonde hair and then there is one to come with some clothes textures. But after this 2 I hope to create the first "free" drawing.
